Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In a casual or a fast speech, words such as"niciyoo"are occasionally heard as"niQcyoo".Hypothesizing that the -C_sV_hYV(C_s:voiceless consonant, V_h:high vowel, Y:consonant in"ya"kana syllabary)phonetic sequence readily turns into a -QCyV(Q:mora consonant, y:glide)sequence, speech materials containing a /-C_sV_hYVV/ sequence were analyzed. The results showed that, in a fast speech, the duration of V_h and VV was shortened more than the other segments. It was also observed that the ratio of the closure period of C_s to the word duration was enlarged in a fast speech.A perception test revealed that the tendency of perceiving the /-C_sV_hYVV/ tokens as those without V_h, with"Q"or with short vowel generally corresponded well to the length of the related segments. |
