Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A reliable method for measuring vocal tract cross-sectional area functions is needed for the refinement of a model for articulatory-acoustic mapping, and the measured functions should retain the inherent acoustic property of the vocal tract. In this article, the performance of the acoustical measurement method proposed by Sondhi and others is quantitatively evaluated. Some experiments were carried out using a lot of cavities in which there were one or two constricted parts in different positions and of different size. The relationship between the configuration of a cavity and the accuracy of estimation of its cross-sectional areas was investigated. The effect of a viscous loss factor on the estimation procedure was also evaluated. The nonlinear optimization method for the incident signal was proposed in order to improve the precision and repeatability of the estimation of acoustic measurement.
