Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For various applications such as TV-conference systems and communication with computers, it is often required to code wideband speech in high-quality. We have proposed the CELP coder based on mel-generalized cepstral analysis for narrowband speech and shown its effectiveness. This paper proposes a CELP coder based on mel-generalized cepstral analysis for wideband speech. In the proposed coder, the perceptual weighting and postfiltering are carried out through the mel-generalized cepstral coefficients. To evaluate the performance of the proposed coder, we performed the objective and subjective tests. It is shown that the subjective quality of the proposed coder at 16kbit/s is superior to that of conventional CELP and the ITU-T standard G.722(64kbit/s).
