Development of A Scheduling Expert System for A Plastic-Tube Manufacturing Line

Abstract(in English) A scheduling expert system for a plastic-tube manufacturing line has been developed, utilizing a commercially available expert-system development tool. On this line, around 1000 sorts of products are manufactured on 20 machines. For each product, producible machines, operator, and assistant workers/machines are defined according to the order of priority. The present expert system consists of 300 IF-THEN rules and 100 knowledge frames. Its run time for 50 orders is 30 minutes on a 100-MHz Pentium PC.
