Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As metal island films have large reflectance and absorptance at resonance wavelengths, the metal island films can be used as optical data storage media. The metal island films with relatively narrow bandwidth and desirable resonance wavelength can easily be fabricated by the choice of fabricating conditions and metals. In this paper, we propose and investigate write-once multiwavelength optical data storage media using the metal island films. We have chosen two metal island films as recording layers for 490 nm and 810 nm and have fabricated the multiwavelength optical data storage media using them. We have successfully confirmed the basic operations.
