Abstract(in English) | Photonic crystals fabricated by autocloning method can produce various kinds of functional devices by utilizing light propagation in the parallel direction to the substrate. In this paper, we investigate in-plane propagation of Ta_2O_5/SiO_2 photonic crystals theoretically and experimentally. The propagation low was measured to be 2 dB/mm at λ=1.55 μm, showing the crystals are useful for low loss waveguide. Furthermore, we propose novel in-plane type devices such as optical resonators using a bandgap and slab lenses using an effective refractive index change due to lattice modulation. |
