Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The purpose of this work is to research effects of atmosphere on arc discharge and contact reliability in various aspects. We aim to produce systematical theory relating phenomena caused by arc discharge with surrounding condition, especially in inert gas. The operation studies are conducted on typical contact materials, Ag, Pd and Cu, in the nitrogen gas. As a result, in nitrogen atmosphere contact resistance is lower and stabler and material wear and transfer is smaller than in air. Thus nitrogen gas has effects on delaying and restraining the deterioration of contact reliability. We consider that arc duration and difference of arc discharge phase greatly affect these consequences.
