Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study aims to investigate the degradations of the contact material under arcing, in automotive power relays and switches. We used two testing apparatus to simulate the make and break switching. The voltage was 14V DC, the nominal current was 30A, and we used inductive, resistive and lamps loads. In this article we investigated the material transfer between the contacts, with various contact material(Ag, AgNi, AgCdO, non doped and doped AgSnO_2, AgZnO, AgFeOx...). It was found that, under resistive and lamps load, the transfer was due to the arc in its anodic phase, both at make and at break. It induces the formation of a pip and a crater, which are very harmful for the contacts. Under inductive load, material transfer occurs mainly during the break operation by the cathodic arc phase, and erosion takes place over all the rivet surface. Finally we conclude, that regarding material transfer, which is the most harmful consequence of arcing, doped AgSnO_2("io6"and "EMB8"), AgZnO and AgFeOx are good universal contact materials for automotive power relays.
