Temperature and Humidity Reliability of Plastic Ferrule for Single-mode Optical Fiber Applications

Abstract(in English) We performed temparature and humidity reliability tests of the injection molded plastic ferrule for single-mode applications. There were no large variations in return and connection losses in the temperature-humidity cycling test, temperature cycling test,high temperature storage test (dry heat) and low temperature storage test. After reliability tests, the ferrule end-face was flattened. However, plastic ferrules showed no significant change of optical properties, and showed the wide range of PC connection condition.
