Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We studied the dependence of propagation loss and birefringence of channel waveguides, which consist of cross-linked silicone, on the composition of the side chains(methyl and deuterated phenyl groups)to obtain the most suitable composition for the propagation loss and birefringence. The value of the propagation loss was optimal(0.25 dB/cm)when the composition of methyl groups was 5 mol%.The value of the birefringence was optimal(2.1×10^<-4>)when the composition of methyl groups was 73mol%.The cross-linked silicone was considered to be a promising material for optical devices for WDM systems.
