Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When one solid slides against another, tribo-charging, emission of electrons, ions and photons are caused. These phenomena are refered to ″Triboelectromagnetic phenomena″. The characteristics are governed by the resistivity of solids. Metals emit electrons, while semi-conductors and insulators emit electrons, ions and photons. These phenomena are caused by the reactions between the worn fresh surfaces and the surrounding gases and ionization of the surrounding gas due to discharge of them. These phenomena contribute to the tribological process causing tribochemical reactions. The present paper describes the characteristics and the mechanism of the triboelectromagnetic phenomena and then the tribochemical reactions and triboelectromagnetic problems in magnetic recording apparatus in relations to the phenomena.
