Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have constructed a polarization independent PLC-integrated optical isolator by hybrid integration of two LPS's into a PLC. The LPS's are composed of a -Si : H/SiO_2 multilayer, and work at the wavelength of 1.55 μm. When their thickness is 79 μ m, the splitting distance is 22 μ m. After preliminary experiments of splitting and splitting-mixing by using the LPS integrated into PLC's, two LPS, three garnets and a polyimide half wave plate are hybrid integrated into a PLC to construct an optical isolator. We have investigated loss properties of the isolator, as a result, the fundamental operation of the isolator is verified.
