Tunable Mid-IR Difference Frequency Generation (DFG) in AgGaS_2 and AgGaSe_2 Clystals.

Abstract(in English) In this report we inform the tunable mid-infrared generation from 5-12μm and 5-18μm in AgGaS_2 and AgGaSe_2 crystals, respectively, employing the nonlinear optical process of difference frequency generation (DFG). Signal and idler waves obtained from a Nd : YAG laser pumped LiNbO_3 optical parametric oscillator (OPO) output are mixed in either AgGaS_2 or AgGaSe_2 crystal and the difference between signal and idler frequencies is obtained as the output. For the efficient generation of difference frequency, unstable resonator was employed for the OPO to reduce the output beam divergence. Maximum difference frequency power obtained were, 98μJ/pulse and 380μJ/pulse for 1cm long AgGaS_2 and 2cm long AgGaSe_2 crystals, respectively, at around 7.5μm.
