Abstract(in English) | A super thin laser-detector-hologram (LDH) unit has been realized for very thin and high performance optical pick-ups which are fundamental parts of optical disk systems. For this LDH unit, we have developed an LD/PD integrated device. The LD/PD integrated device consists of a laser diode (LD) mounted on a Si photo-detector (PD) substrate having a 45° micro-mirror built on Si (111) facet which combines optically the LD and the PD element. We have integrated a holographic optical element (HOE) with this LD/PD integrated device and realized the super thin LDH unit which reduces the thickness of the conventional optical pick-ups from 40mm to 8mm. Furthermore, we have integrated the I-V amplifiers for CD, CD-ROM, MD applications and a polarized beam splitter for MD application with this unit in order to realize the high performance. The characteristics of these units are sufficient for optical pick-ups for high speed CD-ROM systems, magneto-optical disk systems, DVD systems and so on. |
