Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Relationships between electrode erosion and the trasition from metatic to gaseous phase in opening Ag contacts were measured. Surface profiel of cathode electrode and the material transfer and gain at every operation were measured at various transition ratio to gaseous phase by changing operating conditions(circuit current or load capacitance). The surface becomes smooth after short arcs which do not transit to the gaseous phase, while grooves were observed on the surface after long arcs. The material transfer and gain show characteristic change when long arcs occured after consecutive short arcs.
