Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Effects of electric current on wear of materials used for current collector of electric locomotives and overheadline have been measured with pin-drum type wear test machine. The results have shown that a discharge current flowing through an air gap between the two specimens, formed at the moment when the specimens were separated by mechanical vibrations, has great influence on wear coefficients. Approximately,an increase of wear coefficients over mechanical wear is proportional to the discharge current. On the contrary,an influence of an electric current between contact specimens is very small so that the change of wear coefticients by the collected current could not been observed on condition that the maximum current is 9.4 A. Some important problems remain unsolved such as why and how frequently the discharge occurs.
