Abstract(in English) External modulators,which have smaller chirping characteristics compared with LD direct modulation,are necessary to expand transmission capasity and distance in optical fiber communication. We developed external modulator modules using selective growth BH electroabsorption(EA)modulator.Insertion losse of the developed module was 6.5dB(min.),and extinction ratios were larger than 13. 4dB.In 1.55um-2.4Gb, s-80km trannsmission experiment using 1.3um zero dispersion fiber,excellent characteristics of transmission with 0.5dB-power penalty were obtained.Furthermore,using EDFA 120km transmission was realized.Through these results,it was comfirmed that the developed modules are sutable for 1.55um-2.4Gb/ s long haul transmission using 1.3um zero dispersion fiber.
