Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The DC motor for an automotive fuel pump has an individual aspect that its commutation is carried out in gasoline. In this paper, arc behavior, contact resistance and material transfer affected by surrounding liquid are reported. Commutation arc in gasoline has the feature that the arc voltage is higher than that in air, and the brush surface are severely eroded by the arc. Furthermore, Cu transfer to the brush is slight. To explore this phenomena, spectroscopic measurements of breaking arc were performed. The results indicate that H dissociated from liquid in the brush affect the characteristics of the arc, and decrement of Cu spectrum intensity was observed.
