Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The purpose of this work is to study the effect of dielectric liquids on breaking arc. The switching tests by using the inductive circuit (L=20mH, R=0.5~1.2A) were performed. The tests were carried out for Cu vs. Cu in some kinds of dielectric liquids. It was found that the dielectric constant of liquids affected the arc discharge types. The showering arc was observed in distilled water and methanol. On the other hand, the steady arc was observed in n-hexane and gasoline. The relation between dielectric constant and arc discharge types is discussed with a simplified model. |
