Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Characteristic features of electrostatic discharges are explained in comparison with discharges fed by an lumped voltage source. For the measurement of electrostatic discharges, image-intensifier-aided video recorder and Lichtenberg powder figures are very useful because discharge sites can be identified with them. The separating discharges occur when an electrified polymer sheet is separated from a grounded metal cylinder. The threshold level of surface charge density for the discharge inception is 34μC/m^2 being independent of the polarity of electrification, and thickness of the sheet. Extension pattern of the discharges on the sheet surface is tree-like with negative electrification, and round moon-like with positive electrification.
