Dust test for Optical Connectors

Abstract(in English) Optical Connector Standardization Committee is now trying to harmonize the standards of JlS and IEC and has examined the test condition of Dust test of IEC 1300-2-27 in order to introduce it to JIS C5961, test method for optical connectors. The dust test has been done under mating by using four kinds of different connectors. It could not be observed the eternal degradation in these four connectors standardized in JIS. It was found that the treatment method after testing should be precisely specified. For the intraoffice or indoor environmental use optical connectors, another new test method by much lower dust concentration should be standardized.
