Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A new 4-arm tuning fork is proposed here for application to vibratory gyroscopes. The vibration mode and the resonant frequency are clarified by finite element analysis and experimental investigation. It became clear that the vibration modes for drive and detection are stable with respect to the support. The operation as a vibratory gyroscope was confirmed experimentally. This tuning fork has some advantages due to its flat structure and 4 vibrating arms. Since the drive and detection can each be carried out using one pair of arms, the electrode arangement is simplified. Furthermore, the influence of acceleration on the gyroscope is small because differential detection is realized electrically by using a pair of arms. Therefore, a high-performance vibratory gyroscope with the above advantages can be realiyed using this tuning fork.
