Abstract(in English) In Europe various standards for safety of electrical equipment have been established. For relays, the most sever requirements for insulation specifications are specified by VDE0631. In the European market, miniature power relays which have a latching function are required to achieve savings in electric energy. In order to produce the relay which satisfies above two requirements of Europe, we have been developing some technologies. They are a structure which allows for enough insulation distance in a small area, a contact mechanism to realize a power level switching in a small contact chamber, and evaluation of insulation characteristics. These developments have made it possible for the new relay to meet the requirements of latching function, VDE0631 and provide a current switching capability of 8A-10A.
