Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the last report the author investigated the fretting behaviours of non-noble static contact parts. In the present paper he studies the degradation of simple-shaped contacts which are composed of several typical base metals. This study has been carried out by detecting the minimum working amplitude of vibration required to attain a given increase in contact resistance, with the major results as follows : (1) the degradation tendency drops with an increased contact force and it is affected by the passing current and (2) durability of contact against degradation is higher under fretting conditions when a copper alloy spring material is used without being finished by base metal plating, than when it is used after finished by such a plating.
