Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to study the contact opening failure at small electromagnetic relays, the adhesive force between gold contacts was measured as a function of the number of sliding cycles and the contact force. Then, at the contact resistance also was measured to estimate contact area before sliding, after sliding and at zero contact force in separating motion. These measurements have shown that contact area did not increase more than a certain value even if the number of sliding cycles increased, and apparent stress which was calculated from contact area would satisfy the von Mises yield criterion. Moreover, the method of estimating the maximum coefficient of adhesion force from yield stress, tensile stress and frictional coefficient was proposed.
