Abstract(in English) | In crystal of class (3m) such as LiNbO_3 and LiTaO_3, two orthogonal thickness-shear vibrations can be excited independently by perpendicular and lateral electric fields, respctively. Using trapped energy thickness-shear vibrations, vibratory gyroscopes of easy support with no need of trimming is expexted to be realized. In this paper, an energy trapping vibratory gyroscope using 163° rotated Y-cut LiNb0_3 is proposed. It is experimentally shown that the resonace frequencies of two orthogonal thickess-shear vibrations agree with each other by choosing appropriate electrode dimensions and that the energy of thickness-shear vibrations is trapped around electrodes. The basic characterristics of a vibratory gyroscope using a 163° rotated Y-cut LiNbO_3 plate about 2mm thick is presented. |
