Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The purpose of present study is to examine the effect of memory load in spatial and verbal working memory. Therefore, we examined event-related potentials (ERPs) of EEG while the subjects were performing a working memory task. 7 subjects appeared on either verbal or spatial attributes 1~3 trial before. In 6 conditions subjects were required to respond by pushing a microswitch for match stimuli or non-match stimuli. ERP was observed a positive component peaking Pa at 200-500ms centered at the middle of the posterior scalp areas. In the case of matching trials, the peak latency of Pa in all area was significantly shorter in spatial task than in verbal tasks. On the other hand, non-matching trials, the peak latency of Pa in frontal area was significantly shorter in spatial task than in verbal tasks. These findings suggest that matching and non-matching trial in working memory tasks differently modulate the component of the neural circuit.
