Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When S-methylglutathione is administered to an incubation medium of the Hydra, it shows a ball-formation response in which tentacles shrink and intertwine. Hanai et. al. found that the ball-formation response is modyfied by biologically active substances such as a fibroblast growth factor which coadministered with the S-methylglutathione, and developed a bioassay system using the Hydra to asses a concentration of biologically active substances. Tentacle length is one of the important feature indexes for automatic discriminating the ball-formation response of hydra by image processing. We investigated a 3-D shape reconstruction of tentacle to estimate the length exactly.
