Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Gene expression patterns of nematodes(C.elegans)were statistically analysed by the method of graphical modelling. The investigated expression patterns were obtained by using the DNA microarray technology. Graphical modelling provides an association structure among variables(genes)under consideration. The method produces a most plausible reduced model constructed from a correlation matrix of the variables observed. The reduced model is depicted by what is called an independence graph, which shows an association structure representing characteristics of conditional independence among variables. We assumed that a correlation of behaviors of genes was due to a common factor for control of transcriptions for the genes. A signal transduction structure was reconstructed based on the above assumption together with the resultant independence graph.
