Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to clarify jaw movement mechanism, we have developed autonomous jaw-movement simulator, JSN/2B, with a life-like structure and control mechanism. The previous simulator, JSN/2A, have a capable of performing open-close movement and chewing-like movement. However, the lateral shift of lower jaw was detected by the difference between the wire length of right and left lateral pterygoid muscle actuator. This method was unacceptable physiologically. In order to eliminate this problem, we improved the bite-force transducer to detect the lateral shift of lower jaw. This improvement was experimentally proved to enable the simulator perform a reproducible chewing-like movement, with reasonable lateral shift.
