Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In our previous studies, we showed the differences between deliberate ramp down contractions and sustained fatiguing contractions by applying the Karhunen-Loeve expansion to the time-series of manifestations estimated from surface myoelectric signals. However, physiological significance of these differences remained to be clarified in relation to the time-varying behavior of eigenvectors. In this paper, we examined this issue, using computer-simulated signals under various physiological conditions such as the distribution of motor units (MUs) in a muscle, MU firing patterns, and others. The results showed that the time-varying behavior of eigenvectors was mainly caused by the ensemble features of MU firing patterns.
