Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Our aims were to visualize myocardial NADH fluorescences image reflecting the mitochondrial metabolism and to compare the obtained images with the corresponding myocardial blood flow distribution in isolated, perfused rat hearts (Langendorff perfusion mode). We developed a fluorescence CCD system, consisting of an optical lens system with a barrier filter for NADH fluorescence, an ultraviolet light (370 nm) source, and a CCD video camera. Microvascular blood flow distribution was imaged by quantitative autoradiography combined with ^3H-labeled desmethylimipramine (^3H-DMI) deposition technique. Myocardial metabolic activity showed spatial heterogeneity, the size of which is nearly identical to the minimum circulatory units (300-500μm) and is closely related with blood flow distribution in the myocardial microcirculation during hypoxic state. |
