Abstract(in English) In this paper, we present a computer-aided diagnosis system to automatically detect lung cancer candidates at an early stage from the present and the past helical CT screening. We developed a diagnostic algorithm that can detect the candidate regions of lung cancer, and the slice matching algorithm that can match automatically the slice images of the past CT scan to these of the present CT scan for the assistance of comparative reading in retrospect. We show the effectiveness of our lung cancer detection algorithm and slice matching algorithm by giving the result of its application to image data for mass screening.
