Abstract(in English) We propose powered forearm orthosis to improve quality of daily living of people with disability in their upper limbs. Force applied to the forearm by the orthosis should be controlled relating to the posture and the external load at the hand. Movement of the hands on the top board of a desk is produced mainly by rotatio of the shoulder and flexion and extension of the elbow. Force exerted by the orthosis to the arm is examined using a dynamic model of the upper limb in terms of torques around the shoulder and the elbow. Functions and configurations of the orthosis are also discussed.
