Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, the characteristics of the ophthalmological images as a still picture and stereoscopic image were investigated for the purpose of developing a stereoscopic motion pictures transmission system of telemedicine. The spatial frequency characteristics of the images and the binocular disparity in the stereoscopic images were analyzed. The images were coded at a compression rate of 1/100 based on the spatial frequency characteristics of the ophthalmological images, and the coded images had practical picture quality. The properties of stereoscopy on the observing ophthalmological images were examined based on the binocular disparity of the images, and it became clear that the impediments to stereoscopy were caused by peculiarity of the ophthalmological images.
