Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We perform compensatory eye movement in order to stabilize the visual field. This stabilization involves two main responses; namely the vestibulo-ocular response and the optokinetic-ocular response. The former is generated by movement information detected by vestibular system. The latter occurs with retinal slip produced by visual system. When inconsistent information exists in visual-vestibular system, a subject can not stabilize the visual field by compensatory eye movement. In addition, motion sickness may occur. It seems that such phenomena arise because sensory integration mechanism of visual-vestibular system dysfunctions. So far, researchers have tried to model this mechanism by reproducing the eye movement. A model of Droulez et al. could reproduce the eye movement well. But we found that the model has a phenomenon which could not reconstruct. So we improved the model by incorporating a function of VSM (velocity storage mechanism) and showed that improved model can reconstruct the phenomenon.
