Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) With a view toward the realization of an optical CT, we have demonstrated the usefulness of near-axis scattered light. However, little has been known on the behavior of the near-axis light in the scattering medium. We have studied the characteristics of the near-axis scattered light using the Monte Carlo simulation and the time-resolved measurement techniques. As a result, existence of near-axis scattered light is confirmed in dense scattering medium such as a biological body. It was found that there was a near-axis scattered component in the detected scattered light and that the conventional time-gating technique could not fully utilize this component. The result of the analysis suggested the possibility to separate the near-axis scattered light by restricting the receiving angle of light detection.
