Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Attempts have been made to computerize the manufacturing of dental prosthesis in the last twenty years, in order to simplify its procedures and to equalize its production quality.Dental CAD tools developed up to now, however, are completely unfamiliar in operationality, prohibiting us to apply conventional.wax-up techniques to the CAD.To circumvent this limitation,we previously developed a totally new dental CAD,Vocs-1,possessing wax-up-like operationality.Metamorphosis in Vocs-1 is devised by operating an expanded Hit-or-Miss transformation to a solid tooth-model.This operation capable of locally changing tooth contour, however,is not necessarily suited to synthesize such complicated configurations as grooves or banks on the occlusal surface. To overcome this,we expanded the Hit-or-Miss transformation again,so as to realize local metamorphosis centered on a curved line or a closed region of the contour. In addition,we theoretically derived a parameter capable of controlling the extension of the transient region between original contour and its modified portion, without deteriorating their smooth connection.
