Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Aiming to know the neural mechanisms of color vision in the retina of the Japanese flounder,we studied the light-adapted cone photoreceptors and horizontal cells histologically and electophysiologically, respectively. Two kinds of spectral responnses of horizontal cells, namely monophasic and biphasic types, were recorded. The monophasic horizontal cell had the peak sensitivity around 520 nm,which indicates that the monophasic ceil receives inputs from green cones. The biphasic horizontal cell receives hyperpolarizing and depolarizing inputs from blue cones and green cones respectivelly. The biphaic cell seems to be related with blue-yellow opponent color vision. The cone mosaic was basically square type, but its regularity and density depended on the retinal region.Accessory cones were rearly found.
