Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We developed a convienient and compact ambulatory monitoring system for EEG,EMG,EOG,ECG and respiration. We have used this system for long-term monitoring of patients with epilepsy, sleep apnea syndrome etc.in their homes. Our clinical experience with this system have confirmed its usefulness.Further we have successfully designed a new 8-ch ambulatory monitoring system using a digital audio-tape recorder (DAT),which was modified from a consumer quality type DAT.This system consists of bio-signal amplifier,a recording unit, and a DAT playback unit.Eight signals are first stored via an A, D conventer in a RAM buffer (6Mbit) for about 492 sec.and then transferred to the DAT recorder within 4 sec.. This procedure is repeated to obtain a 24-hour recording. After the recording, the stored data is retrieved by the play back unit, leading to a conventional EEG machine,or a personal computer for analyse.24-hour continuous and ambulatory monitorings were satisfactorily carried out in an epileptic patient at home. The data obtained were as well recorded and recognized as those usually measured by a conventional EEG machine in clinics.
