Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper,we demonstrate that the conductive porous capillary mambrane has a bactericidal property with an electric current.Escherichia coli was used as an index of bacteria contamination in this study.Bactericidal capacity examined as floolws;1)trapping E.coli to the membrane by inhaling bacteria suspension,2)applying electric current under several conditions and 3)comparing number of original trapped bacteria with number when the electric current was applied.Bacterial number could be decreased to 1, 20 with D.C.100mA/cm^2 for 4 hours, and to 1/100 with 50Hz 100mA/cm^2 rectangular wave for 4 hours. Its was found from these data that after the electric current was applied to the conductive porous capillary membrane for several hours, more than 99% bacteria was killed.
