Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Substitution of the proprioception in the lower extremities of paraplegic patients is supposed to bring a substantial improvement in their postural stability. Sensory feedback system for paraplegics is proposed; it is composed of three modules, i.e., measurement, processing, and display module. In this article, the specifications of the measurement module for patients' postural sway is discussed using data obtained with postural stability test of normal subjects. The measuring apparatus is designed and devised using ultrasonic devices. Its performance is experimentally evaluated. |
