Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recent advancement in the fields of computer graphics and shape measurement has enabled us to evaluate tooth occlusion quantitatively by means of computer. Accordingly, inherent kinetic-manipulations of teeth, such as occlusion of opposing teeth, are also necessitated in computer. In an attempt to respond such clinical needs, we have been computerizing the manipulation of occluding opposing dental-arch-shape data to contact maximally. This paper provides an improved algorithm for maximizing a functional of evaluating the proximity between two surfaces, which we proposed previously. Theoretical analysis of this problem suggested that stochastic optimization technique should be incorporated in the algorithm to avoid obtaining a local maximum. The proposed algorithm employing both a simulated annealing and a genetic algorithms was verified to accomplish the manipulation at higher reliability, compared to its previous version.
