Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | This study examined a contribution of visual system to the aquisition of visual information across saccades. In the experiment, when the observer made a saccade, the location of a Kanji character displayed on the CRT screen, was transferred at random distance and direction, or was kept at the original position. When the character was kept at the original position, the recognition rate of the character was high irrespective of the next fixation point. On the other hand, as the character was transferred from the original position, the rate was higher when the fixation point was landed around the center of the character than it landed on the other peripheral area, that is, decreased proportionally to the increase of distance between the gaze point and the center of the character. This suggests that the spatial attention before saccade might also involve in the process and the visual system may integrate the positional information into the visual feature information at somewhere in the process of visual information during saccade. |
