Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigated the effect of nitroglycerin (NTG) on in vivo human venules and arterioles by a needle-probe CCD video microscope. After physical relaxation, NTG (0.3mg, 0.6mg) was administrated sublingually. The venular diameter was measured for 5 min after NTG. Sublingual venular diameters increased gradually and reached their maximum values at about 150 sec after NTG. Also there was difference between large (≥100μm) and small (<100μm) venular responses. Small and Large arterioles showed similar responses to venules. It was concluded that NTG decreased not only preload but also afterload at human peripheral microcirculation.
