Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Three-dimensional mass transport of low density lipoproteins (LDL) in flowing blood to air arterial wall was simulated taking the diffusive and convective transport of LDL in flowing blood and the filtration velocity of plasma across the vessel wall into considerations. It was found that in a straight tube, concentration of LDL occurred near the vessel wall depending on the level of shear rates and the value of diffusion coefficient. In a T-junction having a branching angle of 135 degrees, concentration of LDL occurred on the luminal surface of the junction where wall shear stresses were low and LDL particles described long paths before entering the region.
