Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have developed a model describing the visoelastic properties of the cytoplasms surrounding the phagosomes of macrophages. The model is based on the cytomagnetometric measurements of the motions of phagosomes. Magnetic particles(Fe_3O_4) are introduced into macrophages and then magnetized by a strong (0.1-0.3T) magnetic field and the resulting magnetic field from the cell is measured. Due to the random motions of the phagosomes, the magnetic field from the cell (simply called'cell field')relaxes after magnetizing field is removed. When a medium magnetic field (about 5mT)is applied perpendicularly to the original magnetizing field, the phagosomes are twisted but the cell field indicates the presence of elasticity. The present report uses the visco-elastic model to analyze the results of the experiments involving microfilaments and microtubules which are the two main filamentous structures of the cells.
