Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Amacrine cells of the ON-OFF transient type (AC) are known to respond to flashes in a highly nonlinear manner. Their visual functions are not well understood, although some role in motion detection has been speculated. The spatio-temporal response characteristics found in this study include,(i) as for temporal changes of the stimulus, higher order derivatives are important for ACs to respond to temporal changes of the stimulus,(ii) responses to moving edges or gratings are unexplainable from the spatiarl pooling effect and might have something to do with the nondirectional motion detection.
