Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To quantify the motor function of upper limbs of normal subjects, patients with spino-cerebella degeneration (SCD) and those with Parkinson's disease (PD), we recorded the movement of upper limbs by the system constructed with digitizer and personal computer using the visual tracking method and calculated fractal dimensions. As results, fractal dimensions estimated from acceleration or phase delay significantly decreased in SCD group or PD group, compared with normal group, respectively. It is suggested that this method is effective to quantify the motor function of upper limbs.
