Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Directional couplers with flat coupling are designed by using an asymmetrical coupled-HNRD-guide consisting of two HNRD guides of different cross sections arranged closely. Characteristics of the asymmetrical couplcd-HNRD-guide are analyzed by the transverse resonance technique. By representing the transverse equivalent circuit with generalized scattering matrices, the dispersion characteristics of the coupled HNRD guides are calculated. The S-parameters of the coupled HNRD guides are analyzed by a superposition of even- and odd-like modes, and the whole directional couplers including tapered sections are designed. The validity of the design procedure is confirmed by an em-simulator(Ansoft HFSS).
